9. She's Immortal

During her time as a member of the Red Lantern Corps, Kara was possessed by a parasite known as the Worldkiller. She realised that there was only one way to stop him from taking over her body and destroying the Galaxy; her death. Infecting herself with Kryptonite and removing her Red Lantern ring (doing that is supposed to kill the wearer), she flew into the sun into a bid to destroy her body and thus the villainous entity within. However, rather than her being burnt up in seconds, it was revealed in the sun's core that Supergirl is actually immortal and can't die! This immortality is a plot thread still being developed in the comic books, so it remains to be seen what the explanation will be given for this surprising ability. However, as Superman himself escaped death after being murdered by Doomsday, it could be that Kryptonians are more powerful than anyone ever realised, and you have to imagine that her survival here probably had something to do with her powers being solar based.
