4. Kenny's Secret

Black Mirror Season 4 Andrea Riseborough
Netflix

Kenny was a victim of trolling. You never find out who's behind it.

He's made to undergo a number of dangerous activities at the behest of an anonymous hacker group. And why? For the crime of being caught having some alone-time in front of his computer.

As with numerous other occasions with Black Mirror, viewers are drawn immediately into his world and his predicament, and are therefore instantly sympathetic to his situation. After all, would you want a hacker to send an e-mail of you jacking it to your own mother?

He seems relatively innocent, with it being a fellow victim he meets on the road, Hector, who seems like the only unsavory character of the piece. And yet, like many other episodes, big horrendous twists are abound. Despite being a loyal servant to the anonymous troll, Kenny's guilty secret is revealed to the world - after he's had to kill someone no less.

However, in the final moment, it turns out out his preference of online content is more unsavory than anyone dared hope, and innocent Kenny was never that innocent or massively likable from any moral standpoint.

The final scene sees Kenny take a phone call off his mother, who lets out a haunting cry of "They say you've been looking at kids?!", as the police cars come to take him away.
