15 Most Visually Stunning Sci-Fi TV Shows

9. The Orville

The Expanse
Fuzzy Door Productions and 20th Television

Another newer entry on the list, The Orville from Fuzzy Door Productions switches things up with a comedic twist on the well-established science fiction formula. Following the exploits of the titular ship's crew, led by Seth MacFarlane's Captain Ed Mercer, as they explore distant worlds in the 25th Century with a heaping of humanistic mishaps along the way. While it received negative reviews from the mainstream critics, The Orville has found a loyal fanbase who have fuelled its expansion into two more seasons.

Pixomondo were mainly in charge of the show's special effects and they create another stunning visualisation of the future world. Over 1400 unique shots were used across the second season along and were so complex that they had to be drawn and animated a year before the episodes officially launched.

These efforts laid the groundwork for the series' action choreography, alongside its art direction. This has allowed The Orville to maintain its unique identity in a sea of sci-fi productions. The same enthusiasm carried through into the space battles which were handled by another set of studios including Tippet Studio, Eight VFX and Stargate Studios.

This coalition of animators combined makes for a great look show from start to finish
