8. Phillip K. Dick's Electric Dreams

Another anthology entry on the list, this time hailing from the United Kingdom, Electric Dreams is an adaptation of the works of Phillip K. Dick, featuring a wide array of stories across its ten episodes.

For these smaller scale productions, a collection of studios lent their talents to the proceedings; these included Milk VFX, Outpost VFX, and Territory Studio to name a few. Taking a couple of episodes between them, each effects contributor was able to put their own spin on the narrative, creating an eye-pleasing display.

With the series focused on more intimate and emotive stories, the special effects make their mark on a smaller scale here, most notably in the shifting changes the characters go through. Some of the highlights include "Crazy Diamond" involving synthetic androids with quantum consciousness, "The Father Thing", a beautiful display of glowing orbs on a camping trip and "Kill all others" which features a dystopia future filled to burst with video advertising and unchecked consumerism.

Each episodes blends its effects very well with the on-screen action and allows Electric Dreams to make its mark, even if it wasn't received as highly as its contemporaries. If nothing else, they bring Phillip K. Dick's stories to life in an appealing
