15 Saddest How I Met Your Mother Episodes

Sunrise is one of those late-show episodes that focuses on Ted's unstoppable feelings for Robin. As the pair hunt for a missing, drunken Barney, Ted reveals that his recent break-up with Victoria happened because of her feelings about Robin. He then finds himself coming clean to her about his move to Chicago.

Sitting on the beach, trading some banter about Ted's love life, Ted lays it all on the table, saying that he doesn't think about any of his exes the way he still does about Robin. In the end, though, after watching the sunrise, Ted finally lets go of Robin.

In a brief sub-plot regaled by Future Ted, Ted is seen obsessively looking for Robin's missing locket, and manages to figure out it's being held by his crazy ex, Jeanette. In hopes of getting the locket back, he gives Jeanette a speech about how he's not crazy, he's just in love, and the whole episode just go to show how tough the wedding weekend has been on him.
