15 Sci-fi TV Shows That Ended Too Soon

The Beginning:

No stranger to framing kick ass heroines, James Cameron made his TV debut with this cyber-punky series. Set in a post-apocalyptic Seattle, the show focused on a genetically-enhanced Jessica Alba (in her own debut) as she swerved the advances of the sinister Manticore group, while at the same time trying to find her own lab born siblings.

Offering up an enthralling central arc, a great performance from Alba and a theme tune from Chuck D, this was at the top of many end of year polls in 2000, the year of its launch.

The End:

A possible victim of figure-busting pilot syndrome – the series opener was watched by over seventeen million viewers – a sharp decline in ratings and shift to the dreaded Friday night slot saw the show cancelled after season two. Baffling, seeing as the program has worn well and there is a dearth of positive female leads in sci-fi TV shows these days.

But, as it stands, genre fans are still left twiddling their soul patches and hardened Jessica Alba fans are seeking solace in battered Blu-Ray copies of Into The Blue.
