15 Similarities Between Friends And The Big Bang Theory

2. An Obese Unseen Character

Friends: Ugly Naked Guy features in the early seasons of Friends as an unseen character whom the central characters could fawn over from afar. They once thought he was dead (whereupon they jabbed him with a large poking device) and Ross once became Naked Ross, but other than that the central characters don't interact with him. The Big Bang Theory: Howard€™s mother is described as being obese with a moustache, and has been seen, fleetingly, in a few of the most recent episodes. Gags about her weight have recurred throughout the entire run of The Big Bang Theory, so much that if we ever see her full girth it probably won€™t live up to many viewers expectations. Like the fat suit example, this is another example of both shows poking fun at the obese in a very similar way. We never saw Ugly Naked Guy in the flesh (apart from a partial shot of his back) and nor should we see Debbie Wolowitz in the flesh fully either. That said, The Big Bang Theory does this joke better.
