15 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching Star Wars: The Clone Wars

1. Foreshadowing The Fall Of Anakin Skywalker

The Clone Wars, at its core, is all about Anakin, and digging into how he fell to the Dark Side so swiftly in Revenge of the Sith.

The show allows fans to see his relationship with Palpatine, as the Chancellor fuels his distrust for the Jedi Council and feeds his ego, but also features numerous moments of foreshadowing.

Take, for example, the characters of Maul and Admiral Trench, enemies who are more robot than flesh, just as Anakin would become. Or take season one, when Anakin is injured and placed on ventilator that makes him sound remarkably similar to the iconic breathing of Vader.

Throughout the show, it also becomes apparent that his rage is growing stronger with the war, as his use of cruel, torturous interrogation techniques grows more frequent.

Perhaps the most subtle reference to Anakin's fate is the design of his chest plate, which is modelled after the design of Vader in the original trilogy.

All of these moments and more act as bleak, powerful reminders that no matter what happens on the show or how great everything seems to be going, it's all destined to end under tragic circumstances, with Anakin Skywalker succumbing to the darkness within him.
