15 Star Trek Deaths That Didn't Last
6. Kirk - Amok Time / Ent Inc / Generations
As fake deaths go, James T Kirk is an absolute professional/prolific offender and needs to be thoroughly recognised for his efforts on this list.
Everyone else on here successfully managed to cheat actual death but that's, bizarrely, the only time he didn't (unless you're a fan of William Shatner's book series starting with The Return).
In Amok Time from TOS, Kirk gets slipped a sedative by McCoy and for all intents and purposes appears to be killed by Spock during the fight. As viewers will know, by the end it's uncovered to be a ruse and he lives to enunciate sentences badly for another day.
In The Enterprise Incident, Spock administers the Vulcan Death Grip to see off his captain and assist in his integration with the Romulans - but again it's all part of an elaborate plan and Kirk is very much alive although surgically altered.
Then in 1994's Star Trek Generations he's at it again, although to everyone in the 23rd Century this time he is actually dead. Snatched away from the USS Enterprise-B as he battled to save the ship, Kirk ended up in the utopia of the Nexus however on his exit with Picard it wasn't such a happy ending and definitely abridged.
