4. The Janice Laugh Was Improvised
One of the more crowd-pleasing cameo appearances from a guest star was that of Maggie Wheeler, who of course played Janice, Chandler's loud-mouthed, on-off girlfriend throughout the first four seasons.
Beyond proving that the actress' temperament is completely different to that of Janice, Wheeler also revealed that the character's infamous, nails-on-a-chalkboard laugh was actually improvised by her during shooting.
When she started working opposite Matthew Perry, she found him so funny that she struggled to make it through a single scene, and so decided to do something to make Janice a funnier character.
And so, she came up with the grating laugh on the spot, which quickly became one of her defining characteristics.
