Petyr Baelish is absolutely stone cold. He seems to be the perfect blend of cruel and intelligent to thrive in this world. Unlike some of the more protected characters, Littlefinger has survived and thrived for so long because his timing is excellent and there is no limit to how low he will go to achieve his own ends.

Having this egoless resolve to climb his ladder of chaos makes him a deceptively dangerous entity for practically everyone, regardless of alignment, talent or station. Crossing him, therefore, puts you in an unpredictable and scary position.

Lysa's initial intimidation of Sansa was of course another reason to hate her and worry for the key to the North. On Petyr's entry into any situation things become uneasy and uncertain. Feelings that don't decrease as he soothes his agitated wife's worries.

Her unwitting confession to Sansa about what she was clearly manipulated into doing is nice food for thought. His confession that he has only ever loved one woman at first seems like more well told lies and when the truth comes out, we get just one moment of horrifying realisation. Lysa gets the same.

This wanton cruelty and spite before murdering Lady Arryn is sickening. The distain with which he shoves her and the lack of emotion as he watches her fall made for an incredible ending of the episode.
