When the shape-shifting Psirens (the p is silent) came to attack Red Dwarf, they took many forms to lure the unwitting crew. This included a TV weather girl and Pete Tranter’s sister, both of whom Lister found irresistible.
With Lister deceived, the Psiren manages to get on the ship and in its attempts to delude Kryten into giving up his partially organic brain, morphs into his creator Professor Mamet. She’s played by the esteemed Jenny Agutter, who among her many roles has been in two iterations of Railway Children as different characters, as well as cult classic Walkabout.
She brings her undeniable skills to this role and her intervention leads to many thinking that the Psiren will do to the Red Dwarf the same as was done to SCS Pioneer.
