In series eight, the “boys from the Dwarf” are in the ship’s prison. The storyline gets to a stage where Cat needs to hatch a plan to get admitted to hospital. Enter EastEnders star Ricky Grover. On Albert Square he’s known as Andrew Cotton. Before that he was a boxer and featured in Red Dwarf as Baxter.
The plan was to take the proverbial biggest man in the yard (the physically imposing Grover) and get his head kicked in. Unfortunately for the Cat, things didn’t go as planned and instead of getting a beating he got an admirer.
The menacing nature that Grover brought to that role made you fear for the Cat’s well-being even though that was the plan.
