17 Hidden TV Show Gems On Amazon Prime

5. The Americans

Orphan Black Clones Tatiana Maslany
FX

The main characters in The Americans may be undercover Russian KGB agents, posing as American citizens, but the show isn't your average spy show. Indeed, you could say it too is in disguise, a family drama about marriage, posing as an espionage series.

Set during the Cold War, it's a period piece that looks absolutely great, like Mad Men but with spies, and a faster pace. It stars Keri Russell (Felicity) and Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) as the lead couple, Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, who spy on the American government while also raising their kids and dealing with their neighbour Stan, played by Noah Emmerich, who just so happens to be an FBI agent.

Three seasons have aired so far, to great critical response, with a fourth slated for next year, and the first two are available on Amazon Prime.
