NBC was once the home of sitcoms, the peacock proudly strutting out a string of hits in its comedy blocks, from Friends to 30 Rock, and Scrubs to The Office. That output has waned in recent years, but this summer sees its latest attempt to reclaim its spot, Mr Robinson. Itll star Craig Robinson - best known for playing Darryl on The Office - as the titular character, a rough-edge musician who becomes a high-school music teacher, attempting to nagivate the murky waters that come with teaching a bunch of kids a class they just think is an easy pass, and the politics that come with working at a big city school. Peri Gilpin (Fraisers Roz) will also feature as the schools principal. It all sounds a little bit School of Rock, but Robinson has shown he can do some excellent work on a network sitcom, and now given a leading role should be able to bring enough to the character to make it work.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
