Even Melissa McCarthy's disproportionate army of haters will struggle to criticise her for her fantastic Saturday Night Live performances as Donald Trump's then-press secretary Sean Spicer this past year.

It came totally out of nowhere and caught headlines just about everywhere, with McCarthy's superbly chameleonic appearance and mannerisms rejuvenating SNL as the home for of-the-moment satire (at least temporarily).

On paper this doesn't sound like it should've worked, but because of the fantastic make-up effects and McCarthy's stunning performance, it's one of the year's unassailable comedy masterworks.
