9. Eat Your Heart Out
One of the big early moments of Daenerys Targaryan was when she discovered she was pregnant and had to eat a whole horse's heart, as pregnant women do. Covered in blood and almost throwing it back up, she becomes a true member of the Dothraki. Off camera, this was not a pleasant experience.
Fortunately the crew saw sense to not feed Emilia Clarke a real horse heart. Instead it was made from a combination of gelatine and sugar, with "something like dried pasta" for the valves. Multiple takes were done and the part where her character nearly throws up the heart was not acting on her part, as the combination of the texture and the taste of bleach almost made her legitimately vomit.
Then there was the fake sugar blood which not only managed to draw flies to the filming, but caused other issues. During one toilet break, Emilia was gone for quite a long time and the crew eventually found her stuck to the toilet with the fake blood gluing her down.
