20 Actors Who Have Appeared In Both Classic And New Doctor Who

15. David Troughton

Yes, that name does look familiar, doesn't it? Elder son to Second Doctor Patrick Troughton, David had a few minor roles in his father's serials The War Games and Enemy of The World before his largest Classic Who role came during the Third Doctor's run in The Curse of Peladon, in which he played King Peladon of the same-named planet. Later, he turned up in the Tenth Doctor episode Midnight as Professor Hobbes, an arrogant scientist on holiday with his assistant Dee Dee. Additionally, Troughton has lent his voice to numerous Big Finish audio adventures and he was even in talks to become the face of the Doctor Who books in the early 90s, following the Seventh Doctor's regeneration. Luckily for Paul McGann, the BBC ultimately vetoed the idea.
