20 Best Batman TV Episodes Ever
10. 'Hi Diddle Riddle'/'Smack In The Middle' (Batman '66)
The very first episodes of the classic 1966 Batman series, this colourful caper wasted no time introducing the world to Adam West's Bright Knight and Burt Ward's 'holy' hell-raising Boy Wonder with an adventure that set the tone (and the bar) for the rest of the series.
Everything from its satirical dialogue to its overall vibrant presentation made it an incredibly campy watch but that right there was part of the charm, and the writing played to its tongue-in-cheek nature while still managing to provide a coherent plot that would have felt right at home in the comics at the time.
Frank Gorshin was absolutely bonkers (and brilliant) as The Riddler but sinister enough to make us buy into the show's very first deadly cliffhanger. And if that didn't want to make you tune in at the same bat time on the same bat channel, then you might have gotten punched so hard that big onomatopoeic words jumped out of the screen.
