20 Best Batman TV Episodes Ever

19. 'The Beginning...' (Gotham)

Heart of Ice Batman
Fox

Gotham's last hurrah came in the form of a series finale that jumped 10 years into the future to essentially become a standalone 40-minute mini-movie. Completely removed from the rest of the series, it chronicled the return of the villainous Jeremiah Valeska who, after much teasing, finally became The Joker (or'J' as the show had to refer to him as) and sought to harm Commissioner Gordon's family. That is, until Batman stepped out of the shadows to stand tall as the city's new protector.

You had to know that Gotham would bring its story full-circle before leaving our screens for good, so it's safe to say they pulled it off really well. Sure, it was a little rushed and the Bat-suit left a lot to be desired, but on a whole, it was a nostalgic finale that triumphantly concluded Bruce's long-standing arc before starting the more famous one, and it was ultimately a strong conclusion to the trippy prequel.
