Ever since her debut in the very first episode of South Park, Liane Cartman was an immediate fan favourite simply for mothering the most despicable child on earth in the least effective way imaginable.
Because her depiction is apparently based on Parker's ex fiance, her popularity only grew when in the final episode of season 1 it was revealed that in her hay day (and still to this day, it would seem) she is, as the kids put it, a dirty slut. Having slept with an incomprehensible amount of men for most women in one evening, and subsequently becoming pregnant with Cartman, the season 1 finale famously ended on a cliffhanger that was never solved.
Cartman's Mom is also popular due to her ridiculous attitude towards her son's behaviour. Her simple yet sweet demeanour make her the complete opposite to Cartman, who is often found to manipulate her softer side by convincing her that he is better behaved than he is.
What puts Liane in the top ten is undoubtedly her relationship with her son, which is wrong on more than levels that are worth a mention, but the fans love her all the same.
