20 Best Superhero TV Show Performances Ever
3. David Tennant As Kilgrave
The Marvel Cinematic Universe does seem to have something of an obsession with British actors, and it's really not hard to see why. Though many, like Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and Charlie Cox put on an American accent for their roles, the likes of Tom Hiddleston and David Tennant don't. This almost automatically makes them compelling villains.
The latter's performance as Kilgrave in the first season of Jessica Jones, much like Frank Castle in Daredevil, absolutely stole the show.
The way the series opened, simply speaking of Kilgrave rather than seeing him for the first couple episodes, built a huge amount of expectation for David Tennant's character. He delivered, and then some. The character was portrayed as positively evil, intimidating, and without remorse, making viewers genuinely uncomfortable at the thought of him.
With any good villain however, this wasn't the only aspect to the complex character. David Tennant was actually able to make us feel sorry for the man who controlled people's minds, and even injected a great amount of humour into the role.
