Even though it only ran for two seasons, there are few shows that have had as big an impact as The Office. The show spawned the American adaptation, which went on to spawn countless more shows in the same vein.

The show takes place at the fictional paper company Wernham Hogg, based in the incredibly bland town of Slough. It popularised the mockumentary format and focused on the workers, rather than the company itself.

The cast have all since moved on to bigger and better things, however Ricky Gervais will forever be remembered for his iconic stint as David Brent. The highly inappropriate boss spent his time in the office trying to befriend all his subordinates. It was not a great plan though, as his polarising behaviour left his colleagues uncomfortable and unwilling to befriend him.

The character proved so popular that he appeared in many different events and shows, even making a video game cameo in Resident Evil 4.
