20 Best TV Comedy Characters Of The 21st Century

17. Mitchell Pritchett - Modern Family

Leslie Knope Parks And Rec
ABC

Jesse Tyler Ferguson has received numerous accolades for his work in Modern Family, including five consecutive Emmy nominations. This is particularly impressive due to it being one of the first roles Ferguson took after his incredible theatre career. He stars as a highly capable lawyer who is married to his partner with two adopted children.

Mitch hasn't exactly had the easiest of times. Growing up gay with an unsupportive father is difficult for anyone, but for Mitch it has meant his personality has taken a beating. He is a mild mannered person who prefers to keep himself to himself, due to the attention he received previously being mostly negative. The character is a fantastic representation of LGBT youth and his story serves as a message that it can and will get better.

Mitch's partner however, is the complete opposite of him. Cameron is much less socially cautious and prefers to be the centre of attention, much to Mitch's displeasure. The two bicker quite often due to their differences, however the bond they have makes Mitch come out of his shell in a way he never has before.
