Donald Glover's Atlanta - described as "Twin Peaks with rappers" - is one of, if not the best new TV show of 2016.

It's so much more than that elevator pitch - about a pair of cousins trying to make it in Atlanta's rap scene - to be an in-depth study about black life in America right now. At the same time, though, it's imbued with a real dreamlike quality, which helps it stand apart from most shows on TV.

It's best episode, surprisingly, doesn't feature Glover at all (to be fair, he did write and direct it). It is, however, Atlanta's most daring (which is saying something for the show that gave us 'black Justin Bieber').

Taking place entirely on a fictional show within the fictional show, on a fictional TV network with fictional adverts, it's a satirical, funny, outrageous, and smart episode of TV that makes a commentary on society, the way we interact on social media and the immediate fury it causes, and race and gender issues.
