20 Best TV Episodes Of 2016
7. Nailed - Better Call Saul
Better Call Saul scaled new heights in its second season, continuing the descent of Jimmy McGill into Saul Goodman, and making the slippin' even more tragic to watch.
The story slowly unspooled for eight episodes, before really bursting into life with episode 9, Nailed. It's an episode that really shows off the contradictions of Jimmy, as he emerges victorious over Chuck, only to find that he can't quite pull himself away when his brother needs help.
The show wrings a lot of tension from the copy shop scene, a good use of its distinct camerawork and sound editing to show us the effects that it's having on Chuck, before the eventual thud.
The episode also advances Kim and Jimmy's relationship, both professionally and romantically, as she throws her lot in with him even when she knows what he's done. It's an entertaining and tense episode of TV, and perfect setup for what happens in the finale.
