17. Reservation Dogs (Season 2)

Severance Adam Scott
FX

The first season of Reservation Dogs was a sweet, infectiously thrilling portrayal of friendship and Native American culture that honestly seemed too tough to follow, but season two -- boosted by a wider scope, focussed satire, and sympathetic characters -- outdid it in almost every way.

Unflinchingly honest, eye-opening and brave, the season is powerfully performed and willing to take big risks, all of which, from the Rez Dogs' hopeless refusal to never drift apart to the show's added focus on the community's supporting faces, pay off with heartbreak and laughs to spare.

Making a lasting impression with each episode, Reservation Dogs' second year has already cemented it as one of the must-see experiences of the new decade, a show that will endure and surely improve with every instalment. Though topping the hopeful season two finale "I Still Believe" is a mighty tall order.
