11. Beef (Season 2)
Whilst admittedly lacking the extra step required to make it as compelling as its first season, Beef's second outing is still better than most shows that have aired this year.
An effortless blending of comedy, thriller, and dark social satire, this chapter in Lee Sung Jin's confrontational anthology series follows a young couple who blackmail an affluent couple by threatening their image with an incriminating video, a callous bit of manipulation that spirals into an all-out war.
With stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Cailey Spaeny, and Charles Melton delivering finely layered performances as deceptive, uncertain, shady souls, Beef's second season seesaws between riotously funny and horribly dark with confidence to spare, and makes the eponymous feud a stirring battle of wits without a clear outcome.
Ambiguous to the last act, menacing and fast and often quite weird, Beef continues to be the most excitedly furious show that TV currently has to offer.
