20 Best TV Shows of 2026 (So Far)

10. Half Man

Half Man
HBO

Almost three years removed from his controversial but fantastic autobiographical drama Baby Reindeer, Richard Gadd has returned with his most harrowing tale of twisted relationships yet.

In Half Man, Gadd stars as the volatile and abusive adoptive brother of Jamie Bell's more innocent protagonist, a man fighting with his own self-image whilst continuously and violently thrown back into his brother's orbit.

Unrelentingly bleak but a deeply profound treatise on toxic masculinity, the complexities of abuse, and family trauma, Half Man is not the cheery kind of series hinted at in this article's introduction, but it is nonetheless a towering filmmaking achievement - calculated, moving, powerfully performed, full of life.

Never bleak just for the sake of it, every act punctuated by something deeper lurking under the surface - identity struggles chief amongst them, as Bell grapples with his sexuality and unwanted memories - Gadd's latest is a grim vision that effortlessly hooks you in, forcing you to sift through the wreckage of his characters' lives alongside him.
