While The Good Place humbly starts off as an amusing, yet simple-minded, send-up of the afterlife, anchored by a fantastic ensemble cast nonetheless...it eventually evolves into something much more clever.
Kristen Bell plays a scummy human being, who surprisingly ends up in 'the good place', a happy-go-lucky saccharine concept of a heaven-like an afterlife. A third act twist in the first season ultimately flips everything we know upside down.
As the plot picked up the pieces and reinvented itself going forward, it has resulted in a razor-sharp and fiercely hilarious single-cam sitcom...and likely the smartest comedy of the last 'forking' decade.
