20 Doctor Who Characters Who MUST Return

4. The Trickster

Doctor Who The Sarah Jane Adventures The Temptation Of Sarah Jane Smith the Trickster

Russell T Davies' return to Doctor Who paved the way for the return of The Sarah Jane Adventures' big bad, the Trickster. Remember how everyone thought Ruby was a child of the Trickster because her mum wore a big cloak?

The Legend of Ruby Sunday confirmed that the Trickster was part of Doctor Who's terrifying Pantheon of godlike beings. He was named as the God of Traps, taking his place alongside the Toymaker, Maestro, and Sutekh.

Given that the Trickster was last seen being defeated by the Tenth Doctor and Sarah Jane, it feels like the time is right for a rematch. He'd be the perfect overarching villain of a season, or even multiple seasons, quietly pulling the strings in the background before an explosive finale reveal.
