20 Doctor Who Characters Who MUST Return

17. The Nightmare Man

The Nightmare Man was a top-tier Sarah Jane Adventures creation who deserves to cross over into Doctor Who. Memorably played by Davros actor Julian Bleach, the Nightmare Man was an extra-dimensional being who fed on – what else – nightmares.

And hey, isn't it possible that the Nightmare Man could be retconned as one of Doctor Who's new Pantheon members, as Sutekh and the Toymaker were? In The Sarah Jane Adventures, he feeds on people's doubts and fears – and in The Legend of Ruby Sunday, Harriet Arbinger said that the God of Disaster has children called Doubt and Dread.

The Nightmare Man could easily fit either of those categories, setting up his long-awaited return in a future episode of Doctor Who.
