20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Game Of Thrones

3. George R.R. Martin Isn't Writing An Episode In Season Five (For A Good Reason)

Seeing a creator so heavily involved in an adaptation of his work is a very positive sign, particularly when that work is as dense as Game Of Thrones. On top of discussion with the show-runners, George R.R. Martin has also written an episode a season for the show, including the epic Blackwater and chokingly awesome The Lion And The Rose. However, he won't be providing a script for Season 5, but only because, as with his cameo, he's cutting down on extraneous past-times to focus on the sixth novel in the series. As a whole, Season 5 marks a mix-up of the creatives behind Game Of Thrones, with four new directors coming in (although the typically massive ninth episode will be in the hands of veteran Thrones shot-caller David Nutter, who has been around since Season 2).
