20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Game Of Thrones

2. The Swords In The Throne

In the Game Of Thrones world the Iron Throne is made from the melted down swords of the enemies of Aegon Targaryen, which means while it is the most powerful chair in Westeros, it probably isn't the most comfortable. The real world chair used on the show may not be as imposing as what is implied in the books (the artist interpretations are terrifying), but it's still strikes an iconic image, as well as featuring some of the show's best easter eggs. You see, hidden in the chair are some very recognisable weapons - there's Glamdring, Gandalf's sword from The Lord Of The Rings, as well as Robin Hood's from Prince Of Thieves and a fair few from Kingdom Of Heaven. Could The Middle-Earth Saga be a prequel to Thrones? Possibly, although it's easier to chalk it up to creative set designers.
