20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Sherlock

19. The Crew Almost Got Caught Up In The London Riots

The London Riots in 2011 were as unexpected as they were destructive. Quickly losing any justification beyond causing damage for damage's state, the riots interrupted various TV and film productions working in London, including Snow White And The Huntsman. More importantly (and releavant to this article), it saw the filming of Sherlock's second series devolve into a mad dash for safety. The scene in question was the closing of A Scandal In Belgravia where Mycroft and Watson meet in Speedy's. The filming was rushed, with the cast and crew about getting the footage needed for the episode before they had to flee the approaching violence. Subsequent days saw the shooting done in isolation. Watching the scene back, it's strange to think it was done under such tense circumstances.
