20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn’t Know About Family Guy

16. "What The Hell" Is Said In (Almost) Every Episode

Fox

In the pantheon of obscure running jokes this has to be one of the most deceptively subtle. You'll obviously recognise that "What the hell ...?" is said a lot in Family Guy - you immediately hear it in your head in Lois' nasally tones - but it's a generic enough phrase for you to not realise it (or some slight derivation) appears in pretty much every episode.

It's a nice little running statement, probably done as a show of its ability to casually drop more adult language than its counterparts. It is often misreported that the phrase is used in every episode, which is unfortunately not the case; at the very least Season 3's From Method To Madness the word doesn't appear at all.
