15. Some Episodes Were Cancelled

Several episodes were written but never saw the light of day including stories where Frank starts using marijuana and Kramer sets up a skeleton museum. However, the most infamous unmade episode is The Bet. The story revolved around Elaine trying to show Jerry how easy it was to obtain a handgun.

Even though actors were cast and sets were built, the episode was canned. According to Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus read a scene where Elaine holds the firearm and says, "Where do you want it, Jerry? The Kennedy?" while pointing to her head. She then says, "The McKinley?" while pointing to her stomach. This references the presidents, John F. Kennedy and William McKinley, who were shot dead.

As soon as Louis-Dreyfus read this dialogue, she stated, "I'm not doing this." After rehearsing the scene for 20 minutes, the cast told the director that the storyline was too provocative to work. The infamous episode was replaced with The Phone Machine.

As a side note, this episode would've revealed that Kramer's first name was Conrad. Kramer's name wasn't revealed until Season 6 (although it was changed to Cosmo by that point).
