7. Real Freaks

It's already been discussed how close American Horror Story is to reality, but Freak Show has taken that a step further. Many of the characters that are featuring in season four are actually based on real life people. For example, Jimmy Darling is based on Fred Wilson, aka Lobster Boy, while his mother Ethel Darling is based on Annie Jones, the famed Bearded Woman. Other characters include Bette and Dot being based on Millie and Christine, The Two Headed Nightingale as well as Legless Suzy being inspired by Eli Bowen, the Legless Wonder. Even the naked girl in the credit sequence was inspired by a real person, namely Blanche Dumas, who worked as a courtesan in Paris.
