Despite having masterminded the sublimely marketed Cloverfield, as well as directing intricate Spielberg homage Super 8 and cool reboot of geek magnet Star Trek, before Star Wars any discussion on J. J. Abrams€™ career always wound up on Lost. Which is odd given how he wasn't all that involved.

Coming on long after the idea had been formulated, Abrams€™ biggest impact on Lost was bringing on Damon Lindelof when he wanted to sci-fi up the original Cast Away/Lord Of The Flies concept and making way for Carlton Cuse (he jumped ship part way through Season 1 to make Mission: Impossible 3). He did direct the pilot, but his continued €˜ownership€™ of the show is more than a little bit false.
