12. It's Not Really J.J. Abrams'
Despite having masterminded the sublimely marketed Cloverfield, as well as directing intricate Spielberg homage Super 8 and cool reboot of geek magnet Star Trek, before Star Wars any discussion on J. J. Abrams career always wound up on Lost. Which is odd given how he wasn't all that involved.
Coming on long after the idea had been formulated, Abrams biggest impact on Lost was bringing on Damon Lindelof when he wanted to sci-fi up the original Cast Away/Lord Of The Flies concept and making way for Carlton Cuse (he jumped ship part way through Season 1 to make Mission: Impossible 3).
