20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Lost
13. It Was All Shot In Oahu (Aside For A Handful Of Scenes)
Even the real world elements of Lost were shot in Hawaii. This was such a constant throughout production that Canadian Evangeline Lilly's scenes were initially postponed while she got a work visa and Daniel Dae Kim was afraid to unpack lest Jin was killed off and he had to leave. All right, a couple of scenes for Through The Looking Glass used existing L.A. sets from other shows, but that was out of convenience. For the most part it was accepted the actors had to go to Hawaii.
However, in one special case an exception was made and production actually moved. Alan Dale, former Neighbour and Charles Widmore (at the time the show's big bad), was busy starring in Monty Python's Spamalot during the shooting of Season 4, so couldn't to make the journey out to Oahu. So the production came to him. A camera crew flew out to London and shot the climactic showdowns he has with Sun and Ben.
