20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Simpsons

12. Bart Gets An F Is (Still) The Highest Viewed Episode

I used to own a VHS of The Simpsons€™ €˜Greatest Hits€™ that brought together milestone episodes (first episode, hundredth episode etc.). Compared to full season collections four episodes seems a bit measly, but back then it was a proper gold mine.

The last episode on the video was Bart Gets An F, included because back then it was the most viewed Simpson episode ever. The Season 2 premiere, the decision to put a Bart (then the most popular character) centric episode first, coupled with the controversy of putting the the show up against The Bill Cosby Show brought in the best Nielsen ratings the show has ever seen.

And it€™s still the highest viewed today. Not too surprising given the shows fall from grace, it€™s still nice to have such a moral episode (even if you try your hardest you€™re not guaranteed to succeed) at the top.
