20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About True Detective

6. Martin And Rust Found The €˜Green-Eared Spaghetti Monster€™ In Episode 3

So it may not be a revelation that Hart and Cohle already found Errol Childress earlier in the season, considering Cohle mentions it at the very end of the first season, but it is one of those key moments that fans of the show would be wise to go back to and watch again. Childress can be found in episode three, The Locked Room, mowing a lawn out of the front of one of Billy Lee Tuttle€™s old schools. And boy is that scene creepy; not because Childress is an obvious killer and suspect, but because he appears so normal and forgettable. It would take 17 years for Hart and Cohle to find Childress again, and seeing his first appearance in the series with prior knowledge of the ending makes for a jump-out-of-your-seat moment, as you discover that the guy on the lawnmower you probably didn€™t take much notice of the first time around was really the killer all along.
