Vertigo Comics

Y: The Last Man is one of the most critically acclaimed comic books of all time, so it's not really a surprise that it's getting a TV adaptation - nor that the people involved are taking their time getting it right.

The comics, and subsequently the show, tell the story of Yorick, the last surviving human with a Y chromosome after all other males are mysteriously wiped out, who sets out to discover what happened - accompanied by his pet monkey Ampersand.

It's been in the works at FX (one of the most creative and daring networks around) since 2015, with pretty slow progression. Comic writer Brian K. Vaughan will co-write the series with Michael Green, who'll also serve as showrunner. Vaughan's involvement means it should stick close to the comics, while Green is a rising star: his upcoming writing credits include American Gods, Logan, Alien: Covenant, and Blade Runner 2049.
