Most of Daniel Craig's time over the last decade has been spent playing James Bond, something that's likely to take up a lot of his time going forward as well. As the wait goes on from Bond 25 though, the actor is turning his hand to TV.

Craig, who it should be remembered is a very good actor, will star in Purity, an adaptation of Jonathan Franzen's novel of the same name. The book tells a number of intersecting stories, but revolves around a young woman - Pip - who joins an activist group and begins a global search for her father.

Craig will play Andreas Wolf, a key player in Pip's story, with the show described as a story of fidelity, murder, and idealism. Showtime have picked it up for 20 episodes, likely spread across two years, with Oscar-nominated Todd Field directing all of them. Franzen, meanwhile, will co-write the show alongside another former Oscar-nominee, writer David Hare.
