16. The Nix
The Nix, from author Nathan Hill, is one of the hottest novels of the past year, garnering a lot of pre-release hype and then immediately rocketing to the top of bestseller lists everywhere.
A sprawling tale, it goes from a hippie-mother throwing rocks at a conservative governor on the Presidential campaign trail, to her son, now a wannabe novelist, who writes a scathing profile of his own mother to get himself out of debt.
It's an interesting story, and one that got a lot of attention for parallels to the rise of Donald Trump (although Nix started writing it in 2004), which means the series should feel quite pretty relevant. Of course, it's also got a huge star attached, with none other than Meryl Streep set to lead the mini-series, which will be exec produced by J.J. Abrams, who'll also direct at least a few episodes.
