20 TV Episodes That Are Totally Flawless

17. How Your Mother Met Me - How I Met Your Mother

The Sopranos
CBS

Whilst it would be fair to dismiss How I Met Your Mother's final season as a major disappointment that almost single-handedly ruined any rewarding catharsis the story was aiming for, it did have a few redeeming features, the most impressive of which came with the episode How Your Mother Met Me.

In an episode that spans the years from the first season to the show's final wedding, audiences are treated to a sweeping and heartbreakingly tragic tale about what The Mother (Tracy) was up to during the rest of the series.

It's a striking story that represents the best of the entire show, tying together numerous loose ends, offering up a beautiful performance from Cristin Milioti, and allowing Tracy's life to beautifully mirror that of her future husband. And the final scene, where Tracy sings "La Vie en Rose"? Pure bliss.
