20 TV Show Finales That Are Totally Flawless

In the very first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Enterprise crew came into contact with the omnipotent, god-like being Q (John de Lancie), who informs Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) that humanity is on trial, and that their fate hangs in the balance.

In the show's masterful finale, this comes full-circle, as Picard finds his mind jumping between various points in time and on a desperate mission to save mankind.

At its core, All Good Things... is about how much Picard and his loyal crew have grown over the last seven seasons. It's about Data (Brent Spiner) and his quest for humanity, Worf (Michael Dorn) and his growth as a leader, and of course Picard's attempts to keep the galaxy safe, no matter the cost, whilst battling his own mind and frenemy-like relationship with a conflicted Q.

With deep philosophy regarding the nature of human existence, mental illness, friendship and hope, All Good Things... is a remarkable achievement in sci-fi innovation, and one of the many crowning achievements of perhaps the best Star Trek series on offer.
