20 TV Show Finales That Are Totally Flawless
16. Discos And Dragons - Freaks And Geeks
In an ideal world, Discos and Dragons wouldn't have been the series finale of Freak and Geeks, but the start of a great, multi-season run which constantly one-upped itself and pushed the boundaries of its high school dramedy structure.
Unfortunately, Freaks and Geeks was cancelled months before the first season's last episode even aired, an injustice which still rightfully irks fans to this day. But there is a slight silver lining in the final episode itself, which is a great send-off to the show as it was before it got the axe.
Given how concerned the show was with identity, acceptance and growth, Discos and Dragons forces its various characters to face up to who they really are and what they really want, whether it's Lindsay (Linda Cardellini) dropping her plans to attend an academic retreat in place of joining Kim (Busy Philips) for a series of Grateful Dead concerts, or Nick (Jason Segel) learning to dance for an upcoming disco.
A funny, bittersweet finale which ends on an infectiously happy high, Discos and Dragons is truly spotless, making you wonder where the show could have ended up.
