Jill Jacobson appeared in two episodes of Star Trek. First, she played Vanessa in the The Next Generation episode The Royale. She would later appear in the Deep Space Nine episode Broken Link, this time as Chalan Aroya. 

Having graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a BS in Radio-TV-Film/Performance, Jacobson quickly became known to her friends as a great comic, whose timing was impeccable. She displayed her comedic timing in her role The New Gidget. She would also go on to appear in dozens of further productions, ranging from comedy to drama, with a long-running part on Falcon Crest.

She also performed on-stage, making many theatre appearances. She was also a skilled stand-up comedian, effortlessly carrying her craft from camera to crowd work. 

She suffered from oesophageal cancer for two years before her death, leading to her becoming an award-winning spokesperson for the American Cancer Society. 

She was 70 years old when she died.
