Star Trek The Original Series Catspaw Michael Barrier

Michael Barrier appeared as DeSalle, a red shirt who - wait for it - survives! He appeared in three episodes of The Original Series - Catspaw, This Side Of Paradise, and The Squire Of Gothos. Though he made several television appearances throughout the 60s, acting was not his main passion.

Before and after he began his acting career, Barrier served in the U.S. Military and the U.S. Coast Guard. When his acting career came to a close, he enrolled in law school, was admitted to the Bar, and as a Lieutenant Commander, served as both the assistant legal officer, and full legal officer, of the 11th Coast Guard District.

Though he admitted to not being much of a Trekkie as time went on, his character resonated for both taking command of the Enterprise, and helping introduce a certain Russian navigator to the fandom as well.

Barrier was 90 years old when he died.
